<Artist note>

Up until now, my work was about putting trees in the center of attention as humans in this world. But this time, I gave many thoughts about how to express its beauty on these trees individually.

I wanted to move away from a human perspective of trees and look into their unique beauty.  Not as if "mankind" was vaguely expressed as one of the species, but rather it was like looking into one's character. 

This work might give me wonders and fear at the same time. Perhaps, it's like getting to know a person on a deeper level.

<작가노트>

지금까지 나의 작업이 나무를 ‘인간과 같은 지구의 주인공’으로 조명하기 위한 작업이었다면, 이번 작업은 나무 하나하나마다 그 아름다움을 표현하기 위해 고심하였다.

나무를 인간의 관점에서 띄우는 작업에서 나아가 이제 나무 저마다 가지고 있는 고유한 아름다움을 바라보려 한다. 마치 ‘인류’라고 뭉뚱그려진 한 무리의 종이 아니라, 한 ‘사람’의 인격을 들여다보는 것과 같다. 

이 작업은 내게 경이와 두려움을 동시에 느끼게 할 지도 모르겠다.

어쩌면 한 사람을 깊이 알아갈 때의 그것과 같지 않을까.
